Cambodia is one of the lowest when it comes to being a developed country. Their population is decent sized but so few have beyond a primary level education. The life expectancy is considerably shorter than in America and the infant mortality rate pronounces death upon thirty-four children out of a thousand, before they are even two years old. The net migration is actually a negative number because people are moving away from Cambodia. There must be some push factors. One of these could be the high percentage of HIV/AIDS or the amount of poverty. Cambodia relies on remittances, in many cases, for it’s income. With family gone for financial support elsewhere, the population diminishes. The child labor rate is also high, yet the education rate is low and almost nonexistent after secondary. Many people still live rural lifestyles. Despite having some nice forest areas and fresh water, many people live on degraded land and natural disasters still largely impact the area. After all that, it makes sense why Cambodia is only ranked 136.

Denmark earned its place with an educated female population. Almost 96 percent of women, age twenty-five and above, have received at least a secondary education. The majority of the population lives in cities and the Infant Mortality Rate is less than 10% of Cambodia’s. At birth, one is expected to live to be almost 80. However, the Rate of Natural Increase is actually negative, perhaps because of the debate on overpopulation and the belief that smaller families are better and more desirable. The population is already small as is but continues to decrease despite a steady stream of immigrants moving to Denmark yearly. A good portion of the population is dependent on others for support, but the majority are in the middle of their lives. The Gross National Income is a high rate of more than 42,000 and a decent amount of that (8.74%) is spent on education. Yet, some factors are not available and, could potentially, bring down Denmark’s rank were we to know them. But for now, Denmark takes its place among the top as number 10.
